The publication presented to the reader contains the first in the domestic history of architecture a monograph dedicated to the diocesan architect. The work of the candidate of art history Alexey Evgenievich Belonozhkin is based on its multifaceted dissertation work, protected in 2006. She was prepared at the Institute named after I.E. Repin of the Russian Academy of Arts, where the author teaches, combining this ministry with the scientific work and activities of the scientific secretary of the Diocesan Commission on architectural and artistic issues related, in particular, with the organization of several wonderful historical and architectural conferences.
A.P. Aplaksin is the last Petersburg diocesan architect of the pre-revolutionary period. However, the belonging of this position is not the only thing that causes interest. This master is the author of the set, mainly church, buildings reflecting creative searches for the beginning of the twentieth century. Under his leadership, restoration work was carried out on such exceptional monuments of domestic temple architecture, like Sampsonievsky and Kazan Cathedrals in St. Petersburg.
Successfully built by the author text gives a favorable opportunity for consideration and perception of the material of the work. The substantiation of the topic and the methodological foundations of the study are clearly formulated, its sources are indicated.
