The dictionary presents the dialectic vocabulary and phraseology of all Russian folk dialects of the 19th - XX centuries. For the dictionary, those Russian dialects that are in a foreign language environment are of interest, since in such dialects, features that are lost or poorly reflected mainly by the Russian dialect massif can be preserved. The dictionary is based on direct observations of living folk speech, recorded both in the past and in our time. The works of oral folk art are also used, which contain many vocabulary features of local speech. In some cases, writers who have a clearly ethnographic character in the text of artistic works are involved.
