Evgeny Abramovich Baratynsky (1800–1844) was a poet of the Golden Age of Russian literature and a prominent translator. During his military service in the Leib Guard Jäger Regiment, Baratynsky developed a close friendship with A. Pushkin and A. Delvig, and later became acquainted with other writers of the Pushkin circle: N. Gnedich, P. Vyazemsky, and V. Kyukhelbeker. Pyotr Vyazemsky would say of his companions: "Pushkin, Delvig, Baratynsky - the Russian muses twins."
A special place in the poet's work is occupied by lyrics about nature.
