White Fang. Love of life

Despite its American origin, the northern wilderness of Jack London (1876-1916) became one of our national myths, continuing in Russian literature of the 20th century - from Shalamovskiy Kolyma to Vysotsky’s White Silence. A proud man who challenges eternal nature, moving racing with death, striving to overcome any human weakness - is this not a Russian theme with its characteristic climatic and metaphysical cold? London’s story "White Fang" and a cycle of stories "Love for life", which made up this book - perhaps the most famous works about the events of the gold fever, the witness and participant of which the writer was himself. In essence, London wrote about himself.
