Apikuni - a distant white shirt - such a name was given by Indians -Blane to the writer James Willard Schultsu (1859-1947), who lived among them for a long time, traded with them, studied their story, beliefs and customs, was married to a girl from the Piegans tribe. Schulz"s books open a window to readers to the world of the Indians of the Old West, the world of hunters, warriors, travelers, healers, the world of pristine nature - the world of Apikuni.
In the next volume of Schulz"s works, two stories were included, the plot of which is the Indian beliefs about the sacred white bison, whose skin is the most valuable gift of God-Solnz and for the sake of which soldiers of different tribes are ready for any victims. In addition, the book includes stories dedicated not so much to Indians as the white inhabitants of the Far West - the adventures of hunters for wolves and lumberjacks, trappers and army intelligence officers, drovers and carters. All of them are based on real events and are associated with the life of the author’s friends - the old -timers of Montana
