According to his memoirs, Casanova met with European monarchs, dads, cardinals and such outstanding figures of the Enlightenment, like Voltaire, J.-J. Russo, V. A. Mozart and I.V. Goethe. For about a year he spent in Russia, where he happened to get acquainted with Catherine II. S. Zweig put the memories of the Casanovs on a par with the autobiographical books of F. Streaml and L. N. Tolstoy, highly appreciated G. Heine, they were fond of Russia at the beginning of the 20th century (A. A. Blok, A. A. Akhmatova, M.I. Tsvetaeva)
