The end of the XIX century. The son of a successful St. Petersburg lawyer Leonid Firsanov wants to get a job in life and does not particularly strive for adventures, but unexpectedly goes to Africa as a correspondent of the Nevsky Express newspaper to compose notes about the Anglo-Broke War. Seeing firsthand how this war is waged and how Russian volunteers manifest themselves on it, Firsanov becomes one of them, but shortly before the end of hostilities, luck turns away from a recent journalist: he is captured by the British. Having managed to run, Leonid, along with the new comrade, Francois, is experiencing more and more adventures, and children"s hobby often helps to get out of another trouble - juggling and tricks in the style of American illusionist Gudini. With their help, the "Jongler" hopes to return to their homeland
