The publication proposed to the attention of readers is devoted to the history and modern stage of development of the International Olympic Movement. The first chapter of the publication outlines the historical aspects of the origin, development and decline of the Olympic Games in ancient Greece, the formation of the traditions of Olympism. The next three chapters describe the stage of revival of the Olympic Games, a characteristic of the periods of forming a modern international Olympic movement is given, the results of the performances of the best team teams and the best athletes at the Olympiads and the Winter Olympic Games are systematized. A comparative analysis of the performances of national teams of different countries in different periods of the modern Olympic movement is also presented. The last, fifth chapter, is devoted to the results of the 120th period of the International Olympic Movement, proposed ways to improve and increase significance in modern society. Separately, the role of domestic sports in the development of the International Olympic Movement is considered. Particular attention is paid to the peacekeeping mission of the international Olympic movement as the main vector of its development.
