The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Sergius (Stragorodsky, 1867-1944) began his pastoral ministry in distant Japan. Years later, he described his impressions of this journey and stay in Japan in detail in his book "in the Far East". In the preface of the book, Archimandrite Sergius wrote: "Many advised me to print my letters. I wanted to see them in the press, and therefore also that readers can receive at least the approximate concept of the great deed that our mission, or Grace Nicholas in Japan, performs. ”
