The cycle of novels “Sons of the Big Bear” Liselotta Veloscope (1901–1979) is on a par with adventure books about the Indians of North America Fenimore Cooper and Mine Reed. The works of a German writer became a classic of youth literature, withstood dozens of reprints and were translated into many languages. The beginning of the cycle was laid by the novel of the same name, which was released in 1951, and its author was awarded the prestigious literary award. In subsequent years, Weloscope-Genrich did not leave work on the book and expanded it significantly. The first full edition saw the light in the early 1960s in three volumes (later the cycle also reached the form of a six-meter).
