The new volume of Henry Ryder Haggard includes the long -awaited “Dawn” - the first big novel of the writer. Despite the name, the book is far from as simple as it seems. It is written in the spirit of sensational novels of secrets. But instead of cunning police and private detectives, several other heroes are responsible for the detective plot here. The novel, like thirty barrels, is “packed to the top with all sorts of amateur villains,” as the elderly aunt Haggard, one of his first readers, remarked caustically. It has a lot of things mixed in it - joy and sadness, betrayal and loyalty. The intrigue is actively developing and begins literally from a place to the quarry - with the fight of the “terrier” and “rat”, two sworn brothers, the heirs of the sinister old kareseeff. In Russian, the novel is published for the first time
