David Balfur, the son of a rural teacher, turns out to be the heir to the estate of Shoos Gauz. For the inheritance, he will have to fight his uncle, who is not ready to take up positions: he agrees with the captain of the “Convention” vessel, and David is taken away from his native shores to sell into slavery. On the ship, David saves Alan Brek, a Scottish rebel from the cruel sailors, and together they capture the "Convention" - this is how their adventures in the sea begin, on the islands and hills of Scotland.
