Spoiling cannot be controlled: How to raise a happy child

Modern parents have fallen into another pedagogical extreme: today it is considered correct to pamper, encourage, approve every step of their children, and by no means scold or upset them. It sounds good in theory, but in practice, this doctrine threatens the psychological health of future generations no less than parental tyranny, which was common in past decades. Spoiled, not accustomed to independence, children grow up as infantile and essentially immature individuals. Robin Berman, a licensed psychotherapist and mother of three, suggests taking the best from the old system of upbringing (when no one cared about children's needs) and from the modern one. In her book, she tries to explain to adults how to show parental love and care for their children so that they grow up confident, independent, happy individuals who know how to love and make others happy.
