The work reflects many years of experience of authors in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with diseases and traumatic lesions of the spine and spinal cord. Significant attention is paid to neuroanatomy, histochemistry and physiology of the spinal cord. About 80 cases of various lesions of the spinal cord are given and disassemble. Each observation is accompanied by a discussion that provides modern ideas about the etiology and pathogenesis of this disease, recommended examination methods and treatment principles. Based on clinical and pathophysiological correspondences, mechanisms for the formation of spinal shock are disassembled. Much attention is paid to neuromuscular diseases.
