The manual (first edition was published in 1957), based on the course of speech therapy (preschool department of the pedagogical faculty of the A.I. Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University), presents a scientifically grounded system of techniques for overcoming age-related and pathological deficiencies in children's speech. The pedagogical specifics of preschool education, the nature of speech disorders in preschoolers, and the qualifications of their educators are taken into account. The age-related phonetic features of preschoolers' speech and some pathological pronunciation changes are detailed, which educators can address on their own. In addition to describing easily applicable methods, more specific techniques for correcting speech defects that are difficult to correct are thoroughly examined. The book is intended for speech therapists, methodologists, and educators of children's institutions, special preschool institutions for children with speech disorders, and can also be used by parents.
