The book "Soviet Photography: 1956 - 1986" is the first attempt to systematically present the history of Soviet photography from the post-Stalin period to the era of perestroika. The author identifies three stages - 1956 - 1962, 1963 - 1968, 1969 - 1986, in each of which he traces the formation and development of three types of photography - photojournalism, club photography, and photo underground. Each historical stage is analyzed from the perspective of the socio-cultural situation in the country. The work also examines the work of the most prominent photographers of the highlighted periods. In total, the book contains creative biographies of 105 Soviet photographers. The publication is aimed at a wide range of readers interested in photography and the history of domestic culture.
