Two years have passed since the release of the first print edition of one of the most famous clavier works of the great German composer Johann Sebastian Bach. "Well -tempered clavier" has been published repeatedly in our country. The work came out in various editions, each of which reflected a certain view of the musicians of its time to the music of the Baroque era. In connection with the advent of the latest research materials in the last decade, dedicated to the work of I. S. Bach, much in the editions of the CTC is now outdated and, moreover, incorrect.
Probably, you can argue for a long time, contrasting the advantages of some editions of the HTK and the disadvantages of others, but there is one universal way out - to turn to the original text (Urtext), where there is no place for editorial, albeit talented, but rethinking the original author"s musical letter.
