This collection consists of two vocal cycles of the largest Austrian composer Gustav Mahler (1860-1911).
Cycle "songs of the wandering apprentice" for the voice and piano was written in 1885 (later shifted by the composer for the voice and orchestra) Of the six plays in the final edition, four remained. In the cycle, Mahler addresses the topics of life, its beauty and vicissitudes of fate, which have become central to his further work.
A completely different system has a cycle "Songs about dead children" (1904) Five songs written on the verses of German romance F. Ryukkert reflect a single mood of inconsolable sorrow.
The publication is addressed to students and teachers of musical secondary specialized and higher educational institutions, professional musicians and a wide range of amateurs.
