The basis of the composer heritage of Ernest Schisson (1855–1899) is vocal works - songs and romances for the voice, accompanied by piano. His work was of great importance for the development of the genre of the French song, becoming a link between the late romanticism of R. Vag-Ner and S. Frank and the impressionism of K. Debyussi. Schosson turned to the texts of Shakespeare, Dante, Baudelaire, Balzac, Banville, Gauthier, Meterlink, Farg, Verlena, etc. Seven melodies for voice and piano (Op. 2), Miarchi songs (so on 17), three songs ( Op. 27), two songs (Op. 34).
