Erkki Melaartin (1875-1937)-Finnish composer, conductor, professor of the Helsinki Conservatory. The main place in his heritage is the piano works of small forms (c. 400), many of which are included in the repertoire of children"s music schools and art schools. The plays - both separate and included in the cycles - distinguishes clarity of presentation, bright imagery, a special "northern" flavor.
