P.I. Tchaikovsky (1840-1893) turned to the vocal lyrics throughout the whole creative path. In the choice of texts, the composer preferred the verses of Russian modern poets (A. N. Pleshcheev, A. N. Apukhtin, A. N. Tolstoy, etc), G. Heine, I. Goethe. The two -volume edition of vocal works included 103 romances and songs.
