Edward Grieg (1843-1907) - Norwegian composer of a period of romanticism, music figure, pianist, conductor. "Lyrical plays" make up most of the piano work of Grieg (in ten notebooks of the cycle, sixty -six piano plays are combined) The works are distinguished by a great genre variety: here there are Elegy and Noktyurn, Lullaby and Waltz, Menuet and Ballad, Arietta and March. Grieg is especially often addressed to the national Norwegian genres - Springdans, Halling, Hangars. Each of the ten notebooks is an independent collection of plays that are not connected by a common idea.
