The textbook covers the theoretical foundations of the discipline "Soil Science with Basics of Geology". The textbook consists of two sections. The first section covers the basics of geology: the structure, origin, and material composition of the earth's crust, endo- and exogenous processes, minerals and rocks, formation, classification, and properties of rocks, considering their properties when used in construction. The second section is dedicated to soil science: the concept of soil, the functions performed by soils at the biospheric and biogeocenotic levels, soil formation processes, soil morphology, physical and chemical properties of soil, soil regimes, fertility, classification of soils based on their geographical distribution, methods of study, with a separate chapter on soils of the taiga and tundra zones of the northeast European part of Russia. Intended for students of colleges and technical schools studying in the specialties of "Forestry and Forest Park Management", "Garden and Park Construction and Landscaping".
