This monograph is dedicated to the study of the peculiarities of sociological analysis of religion in Russia during the imperial period of its history. The author thoroughly analyzes the process of formation and development of the distinctly Russian, unique tradition of studying religion as a sociocultural phenomenon and a social institution, combining the theoretical developments of representatives of the Russian Slavophile, moderately liberal, and conservative camps, secular and religious socio-political thought, whose representatives sought to formulate and reveal the Christian perspective and approach to understanding social life and social space.
