The textbook is intended for the 8th grade of the main comprehensive school. Corresponds to the federal component of the state standard of general education, is an integral part of the continuous course "Social Studies" for the 6-9th grade and a set of textbooks of the developmental educational system "School 2100". In accordance with the concept of "School 2100", the text, the methodical apparatus and an illustrative series of the textbook are designed for a personality -oriented approach, the new educational result and the use of educational technologies of the activity type (problematic dialogue, productive reading, evaluation technology, design technology).
A textbook through the problems relevant for sixth graders presents a holistic picture of social relations from the perspective of sciences that study the main spheres of society: the spiritual and social spheres, economics, politics, as well as from the standpoint of regulating all these relations by the moral and legal norms of modern society.
