The book was based on the scientific works of A.V. Yakovlev in linguistics, poetry and various sections of South Africanism, previously published in thematic collections and magazines, including "questions of linguistics"," Izvestia of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR: a series of literature and language "," Russian Literature "," Language and speech activity "and others. In the works on phonetics, primarily the modern language of Afrikans, the most attention is paid to issues of highlighting words in the stream of speech, as well as phonetic-phonological periphery. The author proposed the concept of a universal phonetic typology of verse. The problems of interlinguistics, comparative historical linguistics, the sociolinguistic situation in South Africa and Namibia are also considered, where the author worked in total for more than five years, and the related issues of the political situation in these countries
