Vladimir Ilyich Lenin is one of the most striking and ambiguous figures in the history of the twentieth century. For all the complexity and inconsistency of the assessments of his activity, one can hardly deny the fact that, leading the political coup of 1917 and then becoming at the head of the Soviet state, this man had a powerful influence on the history of mankind. It is all the more interesting to turn to his journalism. The real publication included the most significant texts of the leader of the proletariat (“What to do?”, “State and revolution”, “April theses”, “Three sources and three components of Marxism” and others), giving an idea of his personality and beliefs. In these works, Lenin acts as the leader of the Bolshevik party, as a strategist and tactics of revolutionary struggle, as a Marxist-a researcher, a follower and converter of the socio-economic and political teachings of Marx and Engels, as a theoretician of “scientific communism” and even as a literary critic. The publication is accompanied by an article by Professor of St. Petersburg State University, writer Andrei Stepanov, which gives a modern view of the heritage of Lenin-publicist
