The purpose of the training manual is to reveal the basic laws in the development of Russian literature of the XI -XVII centuries. On the basis of the evolution of its key genres, highlighting the works that are significant in terms of ideological content and artistic value, forming an idea of the existence of a genre into a specific historical and literary era, to present their literary analysis. The manual includes the theoretical part and applications, which give a list of texts for mandatory reading, a brief dictionary of terms and concepts, brief biographies of ancient Russian authors, questions for checking the content of the read texts, a list of basic and additional literature.
