Over the past two decades, Latin America has experienced a serious transformation. According to the UN, with the opening of new oil reserves and other minerals, an increase in energy exports, industry and tourism growth, economic growth and development of Latin America will only continue, foreign investments will grow, as well as the influence of the region in the world. But, as the Standford economist and former President Peru Alejandro Toledo notes in his book, social enmity threatens to undermine recent economic and political progress. The rates of economic growth can slow down, and democracy can degenerate into familiar forms of authoritarian populism. In his book, Toledo offers a plan for future Latin America, in which the economic situation of its inhabitants will become more prosperous than today, poor and marginalized are pushed into the ranks of the growing middle class, democratic institutions will work even more efficiently, and the incredible ecosystem of Latin America will be carefully preserved. This is a project of a fair, stable, prosperous and socially cohesive society
