The book is dedicated to the formation of scientific revolutionary thought in Russia. The author describes the movement of Russian socialism from utopia to science, from Chernyshevsky through the populists to Plekhanov. The book shows that the turn of Russian public thought to Marxism was preceded not only by the heroic struggle of the revolutionary populists, but also by a tense intellectual search. The book also criticizes a position that denies the presence of deep social roots of Marxism in Russia.
The book will be interesting to historians, philosophers, sociologists and all the problems presented in it
