“In order to autocratively dominate the country, tsarism must be continuously victory. In the eyes of the vulgar-patriotic public, the following conquests, the power and external brilliance of tsarism, excessly outweigh all his sins, all the despotism, all injustice and arbitrariness, chauvinistic bragging with more than a kick, ”wrote Friedrich Engels. Marx and Engels evaluated the external policy of tsarism in the 18th-19th centuries from class positions and came to the conclusion that each of his victory, strengthening power, only strengthened the oppression of the people. A similar assessment was given by V.I. Lenin, speaking of Russia"s participation in the First World War. He believed that the “national pride”, turning into a militant chauvinism, serves to the benefit of the existing regime, and the defeat in the war, on the contrary, could lead to a decline in tsarism. The book presents the works of Marx, Engels and Lenin dedicated to this topic
