The monograph is devoted to the study of various aspects of the life of Bessarabia during the late XVIII - early XX century. Attention is paid to event moments in the life of the Bessarabian multi -ethnic community. The reader can make sure that a significant social distance between the National Moldavian intelligentsia, which often did not draw a border between the Prochit and Bessarabian Moldavians, and the illiterate, mainly the rural Moldavian population, which was more influenced by Russian legislation and the Word of God. The process of the formation of a qualitatively new composition of the population of Bessarabia throughout the 19th century is analyzed, which allows us to talk about the formation of a polyetonic phenomenon of the Besarabism by the end of this century.
