For the first time in Russian historical science, a comprehensive analysis of modern Japanese historiography was carried out the problems of territorial demarcation between Russia and Japan, which is extremely important in terms of understanding the ways and results of the development of bilateral relations in close and medium -term prospects. In the monograph, the directions of Japanese historiography of territorial demarcation are distinguished, their characteristics and assessment are given, the author conducts a comparative analysis of the approach of Japanese historians to evaluate the documentary aspects of the Soviet-Japanese territorial demarcation.
