The book sets out the main provisions of republicanism - the directions of political thought that has existed for the last two millennia, but attracted special attention in such disciplines as history and political theory, in the late XX - early XXI century due to the fact that for many republicanism has become the main alternative to liberalism. Unlike a similar publication, published in the series of “ABC of concepts” of the European University Publishing House in St. Petersburg, in this book the author included more details in the presentation of almost all arguments, examined the history of French and American revolutions, added a section on relations between republicanism and Marxism and more I dwelled in detail on republican issues in applying to modern Russia.
