After the strongest defeat of world socialism, associated with the destruction of the Soviet Union at the end of the twentieth century, public opinion began to be imposed that socialism and communism as an unsuccessful experiment came to an end, and capitalism is the only non -alternative way of development for all of humanity.
This study gives a brief overview of the history of the development of socialist thought from ancient times to the present in connection with the stages of socio-economic progress and the construction of a real socialist society in a new and modern times. The author represents an analysis of the causes of the defeat of real socialism in the USSR and the countries of Eastern Europe and gives a characteristic of the successful development of countries that continue to build real socialism, which gives reason to consider the defeat of socialism only a temporary historical fact
