The scientific monograph by the author’s collective of the Institute of European RAS addresses the issues of the sovereignty of the European Union, leading European (Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic) and the Balkan countries. Particular attention is paid to the problem of complex protection of state independence, including In the field of foreign policy, economic and energy security. The ratio of national and supranational factors in state supervision is investigated, the question is raised about the relationship of national sovereignty and European identity in the future security of the EU. For the first time, the mechanism of the “blocking regulations” of the EU, the attitude of attitudes to the problem of the sovereignty of leading pan -European political parties and their fractions in the European parliament, as well as the sovereign rights of states in the fight against corruption and the role of the North Stream 2 project in ensuring the energy sovereignty of Europe and the Federal Republic of Germany and Germany are analyzed.
