Why did the full dominance of the United States in the air allow the Americans to achieve their goals in Iraq and Afghanistan? In the book “Power over the Peoples”, Daniel Hedric traces the evolution of Western technologies from muskets and galleons to jet aircraft and smart bombs. He explains why environmental and social factors sometimes guaranteed victory, and sometimes led to unexpected defeats.
