Power and Image: Essays on Protestary Imagology

The collection includes studies carried out by employees of a number of academic institutes and leading universities in the framework of a pressing imagology - a new branch of historical knowledge, which studies which systems of images participate in the establishment of relations of domination and subordination, in the acquisition and withholding of power, in building ties between different groups of elites, and On the one hand, and between the dominant and subject layers of society, on the other. The authors of the collection trace the emergence and fate of a number of pressing images (most often presented in the myth, text, architectural structure, image and ritual) in the cultures of the past - from antiquity to the era of the Great French Revolution.
