A colorful guide to the city with a lot of illustrations. Play is one of the oldest Volga cities. For more than eight centuries it has been standing on the steep right bank of the Volga, halfway between Kostroma and Kineshma. The miniature city is amazingly poetic and beautiful. They call the play in different ways: "pearl Volga", "emerald of the North", "Russian Switzerland". There are no architectural masterpieces in the Plays and, nevertheless, this is a town where the genuine harmony of architecture and nature has been achieved, where architecture has become part of a unique Volga landscape
