The publication contains the text of the travel notes of the Chernihiv hieromonk Ippolit Vishensky, who made at the beginning of the XVIII century. Walking to the Holy Land and described the largest centers of the Orthodox world: Constantinople, Jerusalem and Palestine, Egypt and Sinai, Syria and Athos. The author follows the tradition of medieval pilgrimage literature, enriching it with innovations of Ukrainian baroque culture. According to the wealth of historical material and the artistic expressiveness of descriptions, this monument is in a number of the best works of travel literature of Peter"s time. For comparison, the book is placed “Walking” by Andrei Ignatiev, who made a journey along Egypt and Sinai along with Hippolytus. The new edition of Pelgrimation, which is based on the only preserved list (RND Sobr. M.P. Pogodin. No. 1544), is caused by the inaccessibility and imperfection of the two previous publications, carried out in 1876 by Archimandrite Leonid (Cavelin) and in 1914 . S.P. Rozanov.
