Latvian nationalism in the service of the West

This book connects the past of Latvia with its present. The author shows that ideas laid down more than a century ago by the first Latvian bourgeois nationalists, picked up by K. Ulmanis’s dictatorship and realized by collaborators of the Second World War, are also used in our time. Opening the connections of collaborators with reactionary emigrant organizations of the Cold War, the author demonstrates that the ideas of chauvinistic nationalism, which developed in the first half of the twentieth century, were preserved and increased in the second. Moving to the present, the author traces events since the beginning of the 1990s.
