John Ross is an eccentric, a poet, a beatnik, a historian and a political activist. He is a friend and propagandist of the Sapatist partisans of Mexico, where he lived the whole second half of his life, a supporter of the legaliz, a regular in poetic slams and a participant in the anti -war actions of a “living shield” during the American bombing of Baghdad. Ross experienced the American history of the struggle against capitalism as his personal drama, a series of confrontation, ascents and falls, utopian hopes and revolutionary experiments. His book was built as a confidential conversation with the already departed heroes of resistance - anarchists, socialists and Marxists of different generations. This is political meditation on the topic of American left from the moment of their actual appearance in the mid -nineteenth century and up to the anti -globalist confrontation in Seattle and anti -war demonstrations during the war in Iraq
