The theologians made Adam’s wife responsible for all the subsequent suffering of mankind, and the idea of a woman as an accomplice of the devil legitimized the patriarchal power over her and the need for her submission. But in the XIX century, a revision of this postulate is planned in culture: under the influence of romanticism, the figure of the devil and the image of the fall begin to associate with the idea of liberation, first of all, the liberation from the Christian patriarchal tyranny and misogynia in the context of the left, anti -lrical, esoteric and artistic movements of that time. In his book, Pere faxes explores the image of Lucifer as a liberator of women in the “duty of the XIX century” using extensive material: from literary works, scientific works and newspaper reviews to early films, painting and even jewelry.
