The authors of this book are famous figures of the Stalin era. Boris Bazhanov was the personal secretary of Joseph Stalin in the 1920s, Walter Krivitsky held a high post in the NKVD of the USSR in the 1920s-1930s, Alexander Orlov-a resident of Soviet intelligence in a number of European countries in the 1930s.
