The “grammatical outline of Sanskrit "A. A. Zaliznyak, who earlier (1978, 1987,1996 and 2005) was printed in the form of an application to the Sanskrit-Russian dictionary V. A. Kochergia, was first published separately. Fixed a number of typos.
A feature of the essay is a consistent generating description of the morphonology of Sanskrit, transferring the bridge from the ancient Indian grammatical tradition to modern generative phonology. Not competing in fullness with the fundamental works of W. D. Whitnet (1889) and L. Renu (1961), the essay is on a par with M. Mayrhofer"s wonderful brief grammar (1953).
The book also includes an article by A. A. Zaliznyak with a classification of verb roots (1975) and a fragment of his popular lecture on the ancient Indian language (2011)
