Exactly 80 years ago, the Great Patriotic War began, during which the USSR opposed the real threat of destruction. A large war was preceded by the era of exacerbation of tension with a sharp increase in intensity and an increase in the number of local armed conflicts. A similar development of the situation in the world is currently observed. The monograph is devoted to the development of the current stage of local wars, military theory and geostrategy. From the point of view of historical science, it has shown that the latest forms of military conflicts have a number of specific features that distinguish them from local conflicts of the past. Since many authors modern forms of waging wars summarize the term “hybrid war”, in the monograph the analysis of discussions going in society will be undertaken, how appropriate the use of this term is. The book also presents a generalized historical canvas showing the opposition of the Russian Federation to modern hybrid local conflicts, and indicates the ways of further studying the latest hybrid forms of conducting local wars and modern geostrategic art
