In the book of a military historian E.V. Beya, prepared on wide archival and memoirs, presents a biography of one of the contradictory figures of domestic military history - the military minister of the Russian Empire from the cavalry of General"s Prudest Vladimir Alexandrovich Sukhomlinov. The study covers the time of his childhood and youth, the formation as a Russian military and statesman during the reign of Alexander III and the take -off of his career during the reign of Nicholas II. Against the background of the personal portrait, the author considered a wide range of issues relating to the reform of the Armed Forces of Russia and their preparation for the Great War.
