European integration without illusions

The book of Vaclav Claus, the president of the Czech Republic in 2003-2013, is an attempt to look at Europe without pink glasses, without illusions, to watch seriously and mercilessly. The book is not a personal attack against specific politicians, this is a view of the system that has developed over the past fifty years in Europe, on the system that the former president of the European Commission Romano Prodi compared with a bicycle, which needs to be continuously pedal so as not to fall.
It only seems that the bicycle is no longer on the highway, but in the fitness center. He stands on the cylinders, the cyclist - the successor to Romano Prodi - presses with all his might on the pedals, developing more and more speed, but only does it, being very far from reality! Reality is moving, but the bicycle - politicians and European institutions - stands still.
