The textbook recreates a brief overview story of popular science journalism of the twentieth century. “Scientific” is understood widely: not only as a typology of scientific and cognitive media or scientific and journalistic creativity of individual scientists or journalists, but in the aspect of interaction with the most important institutions of society - science, education, culture - as a general system of mediation of knowledge. In the rich history of domestic scientific enlightenment of the twentieth century, the following main historical segments are distinguished: the line of the XIX-XX centuries, the 1920-1930s and 1960-1970s. Each of the indicated stages is associated with certain features of the development of popular science journalism.
