The collection discusses the foreign policy aspects of the Cold War, which required the establishment of cooperation between the states of the opposing military-political blocs in the interests of ensuring international security. The presented historical retrospective makes it possible to trace the formation of individual components of the modern model of "cooperative" security. Particular attention of the authors was involved in the preparation and conduct of a meeting on security and cooperation in Europe in 1975, to the use of instruments of “soft force” (humanitarian sphere, economics, public opinion) and international law in relation to the problem of the world ocean. At the same time, with examples of interpreting the doctrine of "containment", NATO assessments as a “weak link”, identifying the causes of economic reform failure in the GDR analyzed the practical application of the concept of block security, which was dominant during the Cold War.
The book is designed for historians, international specialists, graduate students, students and everyone who is interested in the history of the Cold War and international relations
